There is a secret that hillbilly cooks use when adding too much salt to the soup and/or gravy.
If your soup or gravy is too salty, just add a potato to the salty liquid. Then bring it to a boil and simmer it for about ten minuets. Again taste it using the two spoon method.
All good hillbilly cooks that I know always have at least one potato on stock when making soup or gravy.
